Folks... I build ,fish and sell multi piece fly rods and would like to build a few bass casting rods. I like a rod I can take appart and stash behind a truck seat. I see that 99.999% of all bass and mag bass casting blanks are one piece. Is there a reason why?. If I build two piece casting rods will I have a hard time selling them to bass anglers?... Thanks, Bob. Re: one piece two piece bass casting rod blanks

Bob :
I have been building bass rods for over 20 years, and competed in different bass circuits for about 25 years. I personally own close to 40 bass rods. Non of them is a two piece rod. I fish in as many as 30-35 tournaments a year with different contestants, in most of those, The last time I’ve even seen a 2 piece rod in one of those events was at least 24 years ago, and that was mine. Before I got serious about it. On top of that there is not a major manufacturer in the market that builds what is considered a 2 piece rod, except for in their cheaper low quality models. That in itself should tell you some thing. The one exception to that is a telescoping rod (were the blank will slide back into the handle), used for flipping and pitching. And the only reason for that is to be able to fit it into the boats rod locker. In my humble opinion you WILL have a hard time selling 2 piece bass rods the fishermen. i agree with lou, except st. croix makes some avids in 2 peice, which are nice blanks. i make a few 2 peice rod but these are for mostly recreational fishermen, serious bass people like the convenience, lighter weight, of one piece blanks. good luck. Re: one piece two piece bass casting rod blanks

Robert , Rainshadow makes a IC bass casting , SB spin bass, IS , SP , ISP blanks in multi pc . They are starting to pick up in sales because of their quality , price ,and convenience . They can be seen on our website Fishsticks4u.com, we are also on the sponsor list. People like them for the reasons above, but to get the tournament fisherman to go that way is very doubtful . P.S . I sure like mine ISP842f , ISP843f , & IC847-3 If you have questions you can reach me at 804-746-9711.Robert Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
