I went to mix up a batch of Rod Bond and the white resin seems to have really thickend up, almost like parifin wax. Hardner seems fine, it's the consistancy of Vaseline. Is this normal? Will it still work if I mix the crap out of it? I purchased it about a year ago. Thanks, Ed Re: Rod Bond Thickness

It will work just fine. To make it a little easier to mix, you can set both jars in a warm room or pan of hot water for a few minutes before starting to mix. Generally, RodBond is considered a "gel" more than a liquid.

Ed, the resin probable got a little to cold and stiffened - should be fine with a little warming. Stan Re: Rod Bond Thickness

I've had to pop the Rod Bond in the microwave about every 3 to 5 months. It starts getting a little grainy in texture and I just use 5 second bursts until it appears normal (usually 3 to 5 of these) and then let it cool to room temperature before using. I'm on my 4th container of Rod Bond and I love the stuff! Ralph, this is one h#$% of a product you have out. Putter Williston, ND Re: Rod Bond Thickness

Ed
ALL epoxy resins will crystallize at low temperatures. Some will crystallize at temperatures as high as 70 deg. F. The rod bond formulae has a crystalization point at about 58 deg. F. A few seconds in the microwave or a few minutes in a pan of hot water and every thing will be back to normal. Do Not attempt to mix crystallized resins, you will get an entirely unsatisfactory product. Nothing will change with the hardener, no need to warm or microwave it, only the epoxy side is effected.
