I used FC lite yesterday and ended up with areas where the thread is not covered fully.How dry does the wrap have to be before another coat can be applied.
Most of the areas that are dry are on top of the guide foot.

If you want to get by with a single coat of epoxy here is how I avoid the problem you describe of too little epoxy on the thread that goes over the guide foot. Put the epoxy on as you normally do and then wait a few minutes until the epoxy starts to thicken. Now go back and put just a little more epoxy on top of the guide feet. I usually hit it with a little heat from a bubble buster to insure that even though it is thick that it will smooth out. You will probably have to experiment a little depending on the type of epoxy you prefer to determine how long to wait.

Here is another take on your post. I think you did a fine job on the first coat and your results are what I strive for. I want the first coat to look like that. I think it means that I put just enough of the finish on that allowed everything to soak through and fill the tunnel without any bubling. I have never been able to get a finish on guides in only one coat and I also use the Flexcoat LTE or thin other finishes. I don not apply a lot of finish on the first coat to keep down the thickness of the total. I like finishes that do not have excess amounts of finish and normally apply two or three thin coats. There are a lot of opinions and techniques on finishing a guide and the one you did will work fine.
