Hi All! I would appreciate any input ASAP as I would like to practice this tonight.
Can you place feather inlays on metallic thread? Do I first lay a thread base and coat it twice with to 50% solutions of CP and let it dry. I have U-40 color lock 2. Should I wait 24 hrs.? Do I then lay the feather down and cover with a full strength solution of CP and let it dry for 24 hrs? Is the final step placing finish on it with enough coats of finish to level it? Also, can you complete a feather inlay on the blank itself? I realize these are a lot of questions, but I have no other way of knowing. Thanks for all you help. Bruce Re: Feather Inlay steps

RodMaker volume 2 #1 will answer all your questions. Otherwise, a search of this sit may suffice as it has been discussed many, many times.

Sure, you can put them on almost anything. There are several ways you could go about it. You could even put a coat of finish down on the thread first, and then apply the feather over that and proceed from there. Might give an interesting effect.

If you want a flat look finish the wrap you want to put the feather on with a couple coats of Permagloss. If you want a 3-d effect, which I think looks nice, finish it with Hi-build, almost makes the feather look like it is floating. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
