Painting a PCV Tube

I was thinking of using a piece of thin wall PVC pipe to make a simple rod case for a 9 ft 6 in rod I recently made and was wondering if anyone had played around with one of these tubes to "dress it up".
My first thought was to merely paint it but not sure if the paint would adhere to it. Has anyone tried this and,if so, what kind of paint did you use? Also, any other ideas. Another thought was to glue some fancy contact paper around it.

Any paint will work fine. I like Krylon. Metalic stick-on lettering, a decorative crosswrap, are some ideas to try.

I wrap them using mason line or thicker cord. Check my photo posted in the photo gallery under miscellaneous. You can even incorporate carrying handles into the wraps if you like. Nice looking & easy to do.

Tight Lines!

Dave,

If you want to use an automotive metallic or something similar, you need to use an adhesion promoter. It makes it so the paint will stick to and stay on the plastic.
