Are casting guides about the same size as fly stripper guides?
Is a size 10 about the same size in both?
Getting ready to order tich guides for a fly rod. Single foot on the upper
guides . I have seen more options in casting guides as opposed to strippers.

Most fly rod stripping guides are, in fact, nothing but small sized casting type guides. I prefer higher frames for my stripping guide, such as the standard spinning type frame, SVSG. I use a smaller ring than most and get the height from the frame.

The RING SIZE of a line guide is the nominal diameter (OD) of the ceramic ring, as designated in millimeters (MM, mm), and is essentially the same size ring regardless of the frame STYLE or metal used.

Are you referring to the height off the blank when you say "SIZE"...?...

For a given size ring, the double-footed, tri-leg "casting guides" usually have a higher height-off-the-blank than the single-foot, single-leg "fly guide". These "casting guides" are also commonly used as "stripper guides" on fly rods.

The term "stripper guide" is more properly understood as the line guide closest to the fly reel on a fly rod. The "stripper guide" could be a "casting" style, or a "spinning" style, or a "fly" style guide - whatever seems to suit your purposes and situation.

For a given RING size, the height off the blank, from highest to lowest is: Concept Y-frames ("J") > V-frames > (double-footed, tri-legs) > One-Leg FLY guide.

After that, I'm not that sure what the question is, ... -Cliff Hall+++
