What is the best way that has been found to hold and secure wire snake guides while you grind and prep the feet

Thanks

I guess you could use a pair of hemostats. I just use my hand and grind them using the side of the wheel rather than the front. It seems that I have better control of the guide by doing so. I do one end and have a cup of water to dip the guide in when it gets hot. Be sure to wear some sort of eye protection.

Get an old Xacto knife and remove the blade. Chuck the ring or main frame into the blade slot and tighten the chuck. Works great as a holder for these wire type guides.

Tom

Thank You Great idea. I can possibly even use some of my larger blade holders on other double footed guides.

Thanks

Personally, I just hold them by hand, but if you want, single foot wire guides can be chucked into the Xacto knife. On ceramics, you need to located some small diameter nylon screws/nuts and run the screw through the guide ring and lock it in with the nylon nut. These have some give so they won't crack your rings.
