I just picked up some gutermann thread from Jo-Ann Fabrics as all of their thread is half off right now.

Has anyone used this for wrapping eyes? It says it is 100% Viscose. I am new ot the rod building and really like being able to see the colors before i buy. I was just wondering if this would be ok for rod building?

The only way to tell is to make some wraps and see if finish will stick to it. Some sewing thread has silicone or other lubricants on it to make it move more smoothly through a sewing machine. Try it for yourself and see.

Viscose apparently is about the same thing as rayon (based on Google search for "viscose) - definitely not polyester or nylon. Probably not the best thread for rodbuilding, IMO. You'll probably be majorly disappointed despite all the colors available. Most folks would recommend staying with nylon or polyester threads.

I have used rayons(sulky) and they do work, but are a real pain to to work with. Not very strong and you need to be very, very meticulious with the CP. They are also kinda slippery so they tend to slip out when you pull the loop through. I am going to quit using them myself.
