Mark,

I have just visited your gallery and although I am not really keen on decorative wraps on a light fly rod (my preference is for inlaid turns and thread trim rings), I must admit that I was really impressed by some of your patterns, and I would give the gold medal to your “weave pattern” May Fly.
How do you do that?
Where can I find some guide lines to follow so as to do this, taking into consideration that I would be a total beginner in such an art?

Frantz,
The book by Dale Clemens "Custom Rod Thread Art" covers thread weaves quite well. Also, Doc Ski and a couple of others have put
out DVD's explaining their techniques. I suggest emailing them directly.

Frantz,
If you go the Renzetti (sponsor on the left) you can get Jim Upton's DVD on using the Wonder Weaver very cheap. Even though it primarily shows you how to set up and use the Wonder Weaver, it also shows how to create weave pattterns. Price can't be beat. Randy.
