Anybody know where I can get a casting real seat with an OD of 24mm? I'm making a XL surf fishing rod. It is based on a 9' - 2pc blank. I want to use an 11in. cork grip with a OD of 1in. For a good finished look I'm thinking I need to find a RS that fits flush up to the 1in. grip. All of the seats I have tried will leave a 3-4 mm overlap. Seems like the overlap would not look right and might be uncomfortable too. Re: Narrow Casting RS

What kind of grip are you using? Cork and EVA can easily be sanded down to match up with a smaller seat. A 24 reel seat is alot larger than I would consider for a surf casting rod. Fuji makes DPSM and DPSD Spinning seats in that size. Any major supplier to the left either has them or can get them. These will work with casting reels as well. If you need a trigger seat I cannot name a source, but unless yo have very large hands I think you may not find that size comfortable. I am building a Bumper Wrap 11'9" surf rod and plan to use a 20mm DPSM seat. ( I like the solid black color) I will be sanding down some EVA grips to line up with the seat. Then a split grip down to another short EVA grip. I'm considering wrapping the bare part with cork tape for protection around rocks.
Good luck. Dave Re: Narrow Casting RS

I somehow managed to not see the CASTING part of your subject title. In any event, I stand by my suggestions.
