Is it practical to do any weaving on light spinning tackle and fly rods or are they too small to do any decent weaving on?
Thank you, Warren. Re: Weaving and rod diameter

Depends on what you want to put on them and the degree of detail you want in the pattern. Letters work well depending on the font you choose. Fish work well, usually, but if you want some more exotic things that need more detail the patterns require more threads in the design and may not be suitable for smaller diameter blanks. Cam Clark used to do weaves using 00 thread on flyrods that looked really nice. Re: Weaving and rod diameter

Most of my weaves go on fly rods or bass rods. I try and keep most of my patterns under 60 threads and I pretty much always use Madiera Polyneon #40 though I have used the #60 to shrink some patterns down. If I'm weaving on a multi-piece blank I quite often place the weave on the first ferrule. Re: Weaving and rod diameter

Like Dennis, I used PolyNeon 60 to weave an action red drum on a light weight surf rod of relatively small diameter ( built for casting 3/4 oz. KastMaster spoons). The PolyNeon 60 thread made a nice small weave that those I've shown it to seem to like - made very small design but that was what I wanted. Made some errors & that's why it's not on the photo page. Will try it again. Stan Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
