Hi guys,
Bit of a newbie question, no doubt it's come up before...I'm currently building up a 2 piece, 13-18 pound, 9'6" spinning blank. The male section of the ferrule join inserts about 4 inches into the female section. I was wondering, should I wrap the entire length of the female section(i.e. about 4 inches), or just a smaller length near the base of the female section (i.e. about 1 - 2 inches)?? Thanks in advance for any help. David Re: Length of Ferrule Join Wrap??

You're right, David it's come up before. A search reveals this [www.rodbuilding.org] .
It appears that as long as the wrap covers the minimum amount prescribed it's all personal preference. Re: Length of Ferrule Join Wrap??

The primary purpose of that wrap is prevent a split-out from starting at the edge of the female ferrule. The important thing is to get that wrap very close to the edge (1mm or so) and make it snug. Not terribly tight, but perhaps a bit more snug than your guide wraps.
