Polymer Resin Casting

I just read the article in RodMaker by Joe Emig again on turning Polymer castings. I have a question for Joe or anyone who might know the answer: Are the snakeskins Joe uses cured, or not? I am thinking about trying the process, and the question came up as I sourced skins.

Fran, I'm not sure what you mean by cured, but the skins I use are tanned like most leather products. Let me know if you need further explaination.

Joe, thanks for getting back to me. I'm sure that the person to whom I talked was referring to "tanned" when he said "cured." I'm looking foward to attempting the process. Did I see that you will be dmonstarting it at the Charlotte show? Will materials and tools be available there for purchase?

Fran, I will be giving a seminar in Charlotte, but I don't sell any of the supplies or finished products. If you tell me what you're looking for, I can point you in the right direction.

Joe, I look forward to meeting you at the show in February. I should have the snakeskin by then, and will use the RM article to help me get the supplies I need. Thanks.
