Can someone suggest some materials I can use for tie-off loops? Anyone ever use 5x or 6x tippet material? I also tie flies so I have a lot of stuff. Re: tie off loop material

I've always used braided line. I have an old spool of the original Spiderwire junk that I normally use. Cut about 6" and double it back on itself. Tie a few overhand knots to make the loop whatever size you want, normally about 2" for me. Wrap the knots tightly with a piece of masking tape and then coat the tape with superglue. The tape makes a good handle for pulling the loop through the wrap.

I make all my wraps with Gudebrod "A" and use it for my tie off loops as well. Never had any problems with it.

18# spectra, strong as @#$%& and very thin, I tie a small orange bead in the end so I can find it when I drop it on the floor Re: tie off loop material

10 pound Fireline. Has a very flat cross section, is slippery, and is more than durable enough to work on the tightest wraps. Better to have and not need than to need and not have. Re: tie off loop material

I use 17lb test Golden Stren Mono., make up several and have them laying up and down the work bench. Do not use clear mono as you will go blind trying to find it on the bench. Jesse Re: tie off loop material

8# PowerPro with a small colored bead attached. I try to keep several on each rod support but most are presently somewhere on the floor. Stan Re: tie off loop material

On the photo page there is a picture of the dental floss threaders. I have used one of these for about a dozen rods now, and it is still as good as new. I like it a whole lot better than braided line or wrapping thread. It is stiff, and loop is permanently formed, which makes it easier to use. Re: tie off loop material

How to get the ends to stick together? Super glue or epoxy? Unwaxed floss is the best I've tried. Sure like the looks of the picture. Just wondering how to make the end the way it shows in the picture. Re: tie off loop material

I got a spool of something called "G-String", a Gudebrod product. Looks like dental floss, acts like Spider Wire. I also do the bead trick...my old eyes!
