H&H IM6 vs Matrix 8wt?

Hey guys, hoping you can help me decide on this!

I'm going to build an 8wt salmon/steelhead rod for a good pal of mine down south for fishing the SW Washington coast. Due to budget constraints and the great deals offered at Hook and Hackle, I'm trying to decide between these two blanks.

Just looking for an opinion or two to help me decide, as I have no experience with either, although I'm leaning toward the IM6 b/c it has a better warrenty.

Thanks,
Ray

Ray,
I have two H&H IM6 rods and they are very nice for the money. I don't know much about the matrix but I think it is a slower action than the IM6. Also, the warranties are very different, the IM6 is limited lifetime and the matrix is a 2 year. Hope this helps.

I have not had the H&H IM6 8wt. in my shop, but I did have the Matrix AMF908-4 (4pc. model). It CC'd at 10.16/72, indicating lots of power and fast action. Beautiful too. I ended up dropping the butt section of it (the most beautiful part) and building a 3pc. split grip 6'9" smallmouth spinning rod. Even with the butt dropped, it still has plenty of power and a fairly fast action, 68 AA I think.
