Recently I was looking thru the Anglers Resource/Fuji website and noticed the Fuji NPS reel seat, which I thought was rather interesting. Then while at Cabelas today, I went up and down the aisle until I found it on a rod - a higher end St Coix. Instead plain graphite, it was painted with a high gloss bronze laquer. This reel seat looked sharp and I would think if installed properly, you could feel any bites tranfered from the rod blank thru the reel seat. Has anyone been using these and what are your opinions on them? I think American tackle calls their version a Palm reelseat. Thanks.

I use a blank-thru rs on all of my lighter rods. Does it really make any difference? I don't think so but for some it might. I really like the shape and feel of the Pac Bay blank thru rs better than the Fuji.

I've used them for maybe 15 years or so now. Glad to see them being imported again. Spin the seat around and install it "backwards" per the RodMaker article and you'll have one of the most comfortable seats going. No, it isn't any more sensitive than any other graphite/nylon type seat, but it's plenty sensitive enough as far as these things go.

I use them and American Tackle's version "Palm" seat on most of my spinning rods. I love them with no foregrip and a small epoxy ramp in the front which I wrap right up tp the seat. Very comfortable and allows me to rest my thumb or fore finger right on the blank [www.rodbuilding.org] Great for walleye jigging on the Detroit River!!
