glueing cork rings to blank

Thanks every one for your insitefull info. on Gorila glue. I have decided not to use it. As Im glueing each individual cork piece to the blank, then turnig the whole blank to shape the handle, it sound like Rod Bond is the way to go. Is it a two part? Who makes it? and where do you get it?

Thanks again.
Cheers Greg

Two part, just about any sponsor to the left. Trodak U-40 makes it. Sets very slowly so you don't need to hurry anything.

For whatever it is worth, I find that gluing and shapeing cork off the blank a lot easyer.
This way if I don't like the handle for any reason I can just make another.

I'm with Bill, After I blew up an expensive blank while turning a grip, I decided it wasn't the best idea that I ever had. I glue them up and turn/shape them on a mandrel, then install on blank. That way, when I screw one up, I'm only out the cork.

IF this is your first time, I'd under ream each ring a little, and do it off the blank as well. PErsonally, I prefer to do it on the blank, but a lot can go wrong. The first time I did it that way, I didn't realize the clamping would move the rings, and the blank shifted - the grip ended up an inch from where I wanted it to be. If you mess up on teh blank it can be fixed, just sand it completely off and start over. Not the end of teh world, but a bit of a PITA.

With the price of cork rings if you mess up a handle you can at least use some of it, flock it or cover it up with some thing and reuse Waste not --Want not
