The reason I'm looking at a dremel tool is because I live in an apartment and don't own any power tools, drills, etc. I'm trying for the cheapest and most convenient method. What number Dimond discs should I buy for the dremel? Thanks Re: Why a dremel!

Or... an electric drill with a sanding disc backed with 100 grit sandpaper.

Bruce,
I use a diamond disc for grinding guide feet [www.widgetsupply.com] Widget Supply has a lot of Dremel stuff at very good prices that you won't find in you local stores. Also see my post under "preping titanium guide feet" for a drill press attachment for Dremel tools. bob Re: Why a dremel!

Personally I went out and got myself a used 1"x30" belt sander and will NOT go back to using a Dremel as I am way too fumble fingered. The Dremel has far too many other uses to be ignored however.

I have only found one grade of diamond disc but there may be more. Stan Grace Helena, MT "Our best is none too good" Re: Why a dremel!

Bruce, if you're set on using a Dremel tool for this task, I posted a reply to "preping titanium guide feet" a few messages below -- it outlines how I approach it. Just to warn you, I prefer to use an aluminum oxide grinding stone for this purpose, rather than a diamond disc.
