Why does your customer want a fixed reel seat if he is going to be using a center pin with the rod? I would recommend using Pac Bay sliding rings rather then a fixed reel seat. but that is my opinion. If you do go with a fixed reel seat I think you could use a normal size one I have put my pin on my 10'6" factory built rod that has a seat on it that is ment for just a normal spinning reel. So I don't think bigger is needed. But that is just my thoughts. May be someone with experience building float rods will post and give you some more help then I can.

When I use a reel seat I use the wooden inserted seats from either Pac bay or Forecast in a size 17. You could also get a insert from Les. If you the wooden insert method you need the 17 so that it will fit onto the blank.
