Reel seat mounting

I have a question about the mounting of a flyrod seat. Should the blank be inserted so that it is flush with the end of the wood insert or pushed all the way to the butt cap. I have done it both ways but which is correct? Re: Reel seat mounting

All the way to the butt cap. It will keep your rod sections of equal length.

Be careful if it has a screw in removeable fighting butt if you mount the butt to the cap it will not let the screw in fighting butt fully seat without running into the blank. Dry fit the piece first them glue. I actually do enjoy learning the hard way : ) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
