I saw my first multi-colored weave over 20 years ago and ever since then I wanted to learn how to do it. I could not grasp the concept of changing colors. The fellow whose work I saw said it was a trade segret and that is as far as I got on his helping me. Then I bought Doc Ski's video and man was I excited. I did several single color weaves using his method. I finally bought the Wonder Weaver and want to weave a rose vine going around a surf rod with red roses on it. I saw a cross wrap like that once and the fellow explained how he did it but my mind couldn't grasp the steps in the short while that he explained it. So before I hang up my spurs, I am going to work on a pattern for that weave. I have no idea how to go about doing a weave around the blank so that should keep me busy for a while.

Hey Ellis you know you can count on me and I am speaking for JU too. Just drop either of us a line and we will do what we can. He is more knowledgeable about the 360 degree stuff but I am sure either of us can help avoid some pitfalls.

Two things right off the bat. Make your pattern cross the blank at about a 45 degree angle. That way your pattern doesn't become rod specific. Another way of saying it is that you do not create a circle where both ends have to meet. The other thing is to be sure that the pattern and blank circumference will require 180 or less design threads. If you need more you will have to E-Mail me and I will explain what's involved in using a higher number of threads and / or how to deal with a pattern that has more threads in it than you can get on the blank. Actually if I were you I would try it as a silhouette first to get the feel of what you want to do.

Thanks Doc and Jim. I will start out with a silhouette weave. I may be getting ahead of myself using that many threads but it is something to shoot for. First I have to perfect a 30 thread weave. But now I have an idea how to start on a weave such as the rose vine.
