RodMaker Magazine (RMM) is published bi-monthly, 6 issues per year, and is issued only during the EVEN months of the year. It is sent Pre-Sorted Standard 3rd Class U.S.Mail. It is not due in your mail-box until the LAST WEEK of that EVEN-numbered month of the Year (Feb, April, June, Aug, Oct, Dec).

To be EXACT, an Issue of RMM is NOT DUE UNTIL the 28th day of that even-numbered month. .

The next issue due is RMM Volume 8 (the 8th year of publication), Issue # 5 (the 5th issue of this year, which is October) = "RMM-8(5)" for short.

At this time (Oct. 25th, 2005), it may still be another 3 days until Friday Oct. 28th, until your October copy [RMM-8(5)] arrives in your U.S.Mail box. ... If it doesn't, then something is out of order, but not before then.

I hope that gives a better understanding of the process and policy. The proper expectation is that your copy of RMM is not due until the 28th day of the EVEN -numbered months. If it arrives earlier than that, then you have cause for rejoicing.

My subscription has never arrived late, and I suspect that that is true for over 99.9% of the 12,000 subscribers to RMM. That's about as perfect as humanly possible, in my book. "Bubba, - It don't git no better than that," IMO. -Cliff Hall, Gainesville, FL-USA+++

Post on FAOL by LadyFisher claims Rodmaker Magazine is shutting down. Maybe this is just something that I've missed somehow, but it's the first that I've heard of it. Scroll down to her 2nd post.

I've been hearing rumors about Rodmaker shutting down for about 5 or 6 years now. But it's still going strong and gets better with each new issue. They just went to a super slick new cover printing process or something that really makes the thing look better than even. Not the sort of thing a magazine that's shutting down would be doing.

The fact is, all magazines and businesses will be shutting down, at some point.

I do know that MudHole tackle bought Rodmaker magazine some time ago. I don't know what their future plans are.

I guess I'd better call somebody at Mud Hole and ask them where my paycheck is. Then again, if they're shutting the thing down I guess I'd better hope to get a severance package.

Cliff's post has the correct information on the delivery date. It should arrive around the 28th of this month, give or take a few days.

Actually it was Merrick Tackle that bought Rodmaker and they 're going to start running centerfolds featuring really big naked fish each month.

Yeah and it's reported that they're going to focus on fish that have really big.......... fins. I just hope they go for natural and not augmented fins. I don't like those.

Seriously this topic caused a stir in some ports. I got two e-mails from guys who are in a rod building "organization" I belonged to for a few weeks about a year ago and they were absolutely giddy over the prospect that Rodmaker was apparently shutting down. I'll bet the wind really went out of their sails when they found out it was just a rumor.
