Are there any over the counter adhesives that I can use for thread wrapping? Just curious, I am a beginner and still learning what is good and what isn't.
Thanks Dave Re: Any over the counter adhesive for thread wrapping?

You would not want to use an adhesive for a thread wrap coating. Do not confuse epoxy adhesive with epoxy thread wrap finish. Yes, they are both epoxies but are formulated to do different jobs.
Now you could use something like standard spar urethane or many of the various clear, gloss urethanes as a thread coating with reasonably good results. Take some time and do a search of the board archives here on terms like "finishes" or "epoxy finish" or similar and I think you'll be able to learn a lot about the various thread wrap coatings. ................. Dave, Cabelas has a rod building section and they have a couple of different options including an epoxy that comes in packets, kind of like towelettes, and seems pretty simple to use. You may want to try them. The main thing though is that the finish has to be flexible enough to bend with the rod. Good luck and welcome to rod building. As far as I know, Cabela's finish is Flex coat.
