I'm hoping to put together a heavy spinning outfit but do not know where to find an appropriate blank. Ideally, it would be about 7 feet, have a bit of a fast taper, and be sturdy enough for 10 to 12 pounds of drag. Specific recommendations or being pointed in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks. Re: heavy spinning rod blank

Sounds like a 30-50# rod? What are you going to use it for? You want a Composite, or graphite? I'd think you could take a blank such as a Calstar 700M or H and wrap it spinning, or a GUSA 70H-Plus or 70-Monster Mag & do the same. Re: heavy spinning rod blank

Thankyou for the advice. What I have in mind is a 50# rod for large inshore fish like sharks, tarpon, etc . I'll look for the CalStar and GUSA websites and try to decide on materials etc from there.

50# rod for Sharks you might want to bump up on the Calstar to the 700H. For Tarpon, a lot of Florida guys fish much lighter than that, I think - 25#, but if you are around bridges and need that extra power to "horse" (can you horse a Tarpon?) them away.
Please note I have NO experiance with this type of fishing, I do not fish Florida, and never fish a SPinner. I just told you a couple of popular blanks for that pound test line. There are probably 10 others you can choose from. Re: heavy spinning rod blank

The Seeker heavy jig rods have mostly faster tips such as you mention. Might be worth a look. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
