Telling a Fuji SIC from an Alconite and size question.

How do you know whether you have Fuji SIC or Alconite guides on a factory rod? Mine have a chrome frame and a dark charcoal colored ring. What's different between the two when looking at them?

Also, I think my first stripping guide is 25mm. The width of the frame around the ring is 26.05mm, the OD of the actual ring is 23.56mm, the ID of the ring is 18.25mm, and the height from the blank to the top of the frame is 50.68mm. I assume this stripping guide is 25mm, correct? Thanks.

Alconite are dull Black, same color as a Black frame.
SIC - I do not think they even come in a Chrome frame, I could be wrong though. They are very shiny & dark colored, not sure what exat clor they are.
HArdaloy - medium greyish purplish.

All 3 are noticeably different from each other. Basically - If it's shiny, it's SIc, if it's Black, it's Alconite, if it's niether it's Hardaloy.

Ring material sounds like they are Alconite. Alconites are usually almost black, SiC's are more a medium to dark grey.

I'd call SIC rings a glossy dark brown. Alconites are similar in color, but more towards a bit of grey or black in them.

As far as I know, Billy is right about the frame color - SICs aren't offered in chrome frames.

There are some other Fuji rings of aluminum oxide that are sold to commercial rod makers that are various forms of aluminum oxide. It could be that your guides are neither SIC nor Alconite. Hardloy is grey, and the OEM type AL rings I've seen are nearly black.

Sounds like a 25 mm guide to me.
