I'd like to pick your brains. Would you have any suggestions regarding a quick drying finish that could be used for fast, temporary repairs. I build mostly bass rods for tournament anglers. There are times when guide wrap repairs could be done in the hotel room before the next day's tournament. They'd still have to rotate their rod on a box or similar item while it was drying. A two-part finish would not be feasible for these guys under those circumstances. One suggestion is mixing 1/2 water / 1/2 Elmers glue as a temporary sealing / binding agent until they could have the rod professionally repaired. Do any of you have any experience along this line? What about clear fingernail polish? One of our local marine dealers has an open house coming up and I'd like to offer some suggestions to the anglers that will be present.

Newbee here but I would guess that the best one part fast drying quick cure would be permagloss. You'll get other suggestions though. Hang in there

Permagloss dries in an hour . It's perfect for quick , as well as permanent repairs . The only problem is that it takes quite a few coats to get any kind of "build" . For somthing to be done the night before fishing , it's perfect , hard as a rock , and crystal clear when cured .
Be sure to seal the bottle well after use , and the quicker you can dispence some and close the bottle , the better off you will be . PG is a "moisture" cure 1 part finish and will harden in the bottle if exposed to air for a long period of time .

Gudebrod makes a 1 part finish that is ideal for that. - One Part Regular Build Rod Finish (#840) Dries in 15 minutes and is water cleanup. The nice thing is that you don't have to worry about the bottle setting up like you do with Permagloss. You can keep a bottle in a tackle box indefinately

Guys...thanks a lot for your help. I've used the Permagloss on blanks, just not for threads. I think I'll get a bottle of each and do some testing of my own. I believe the #15 may be my answer if it has a longer shelf life. I'm thinking these guys could carry a spare guide or two, a spool of thread and a bottle of finish, then they'd be set. Once again, thank you for your help!
