Date: October 12, 2005 07:49AM I wondered if anyone can help .........................? I have been looking for a "15ft blank" for a very long time, but cannot seem to find what I want ! I'm an avid Great Lakes Steelheader fishing floats with a centrepin (float reel). I'm trying to getaway from the "Noodle Rod" but do not want to go to the Spey type flyrod blank - which was suggested to me, as this is too heavy in weight and way too powerfull. Lines used 4 to 8lb test range ............ To me a flyrod blank in the 8wt range seems the most suitable ! Can any one suggest a suitable rod blank ?(Preferably from one of the board sponsors) I look forward to your replies. Many thanks. Mal. Marlow Re: Finding a15 ft float blank ..... !

I build primarly steelhead rods. I havent built a 15 fter yet but when i do it will probably be the Gloomis frontier MX or one of the speys on the market. I heard sage spey blanks are they way to go for a float road. I would reccomend a rainshadow though. I have had great luck with all of there steelhead and salmon blanks. Hope this helps.

Get with Andy Snedden at Rodbuilder Supplies. Sage, Raven, Talon, Whitewater all make float blanks in your line weight. Not sure which lengths Sage makes anymore however. My personal favorite, the Talon VI. Re: Finding a15 ft float blank ..... !

You can also extend a blank if you can not find the length you want. Re: Finding a15 ft float blank ..... !
