Off board e-mails

The subject of off board e-mail has come up many times, including recent posts by Andy Dear and Tom K. about how important it is to not block e-mail if you expect a response.

I get lots of questions off the board and have never failed to respond to one. However, probably half the time I never know whether my response was received or not since I never hear again from the person. It could have been blocked or thrown into a spam folder that the person never checks. In any case, I, like Andy and Tom am not going to do any follow up to find out what happened.

I have two suggestions. First, if you have a spam or junk mail folder, you should check it for messages you actually wanted to receive. Second, if you do get a response from an off-board e-mail, a simple and quick "thanks" would be appreciated to acknowledge that it was received.

I'm with Steve,

I get a LOT of off-board e-mail, which I welcome and am glad to help in any way that I can, but it amazes me how many people don't even respond with a "Thanks" but yet don't hesitate to -mail me a month later with another question.

A little curtesy here, guys!!
