Bought a second hand rod and I dont like the flex coat job over the decal. Its too high to coat over and is very wavy .Im thinking of sand paper , heat to sofen the FC. Its a good rod don't want to ruin it any suggestions?????

If the only problem is the finish is uneven, just sand down the high spots to make the wrap level, dust off and recoat.

Decals are a bit tougher project. You will have to remove the epoxy finish. A little heat from a hair dryer will soften the finish to aid in the removal. Once you have removed the finish, you can try and remove the decal be lightly scraping it off.

If you are going to apply some sort of wrap in the area, then after removing the finish, just wrap over the existing decal and finish as usual

After you sand it level, you can also add a little blackf pigment in the finish before you apply it. that will cover the decal.
