Questions about custom shaping of foam grips

I have seen some front grips on offshore rods that have finger notches on the bottom side of the grip on the entire length of the grip. How is this done? Are they purchased like that? I believe, though I haven't tried it yet, that I can just make equal spaces on the grip and using a file to file out the notches. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Foam is easily sanded with various grits. Sounds like a lot of hand work would be required. I would think that you could take foam off in a hurry with a suitable rasp. Re: Questions about custom shaping of foam grips

Those are teh Braid grips. I do not know how they are made, or what they are made out of, but I assume they are molded like that. Re: Questions about custom shaping of foam grips
