I usually use Stanley brand single edge razor blades for thread work but gave into the price of the blades at the Harbor Freight store.I luckily noticed that the paper protector was oil soaked and the blade contained an oily residue.A quick clean in denature alcohol cleaned it up but if I didnt notice it I`m sure a problem would have arisen. I buy razor blades at a local Home Dept, which btw sells a pack of 100 for less than I can get them at wholesale.
I saw the razor blades at our local Harbor Freight, saw the oil soaked paper, and did not buy. Lou Re: Source of contamination.

Seems like every tool that I've purchased from HF has an oil film on it. Probably to prevent rust while on the slow boat from China.

Not that I'm cheap - but I'm cheap, I have one blade that when it gets dull, I run it over some 400 grip sandpaper and it works just like new. Not that I'm cheap mind ya ??? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
