I going to replace the guides on a factory rod. Going through T. Kirkman's book I'm getting wired up to use SF spinning guides for strippers, all ceramics out to the tip and what amounts to the Fuji Concept layout. I'm thinking about !2 and 10 strippers (with or without another 10 between), two 8mm sfs and the rest 7mm out to a 7mm tip. It's a 9' rod and I'm sure some of the layout will depend on test casting, etc. I'd really appreciate opinions and/or suggestions. Thanks. Re: rewrapping

You will probably like it. If this is a fly rod you are talking about the make sure the #7's you use are the smaller and lower framed fly type single foot ceramics. You could possibly use #6's but you didn't specify the line size you intend to use. ................. Re: rewrapping

Thanks for the reply. It's a 5 weight line. I thought I could maybe get away with 6MMs but the only matching tops I can find have 7MM rings. I thought the top size should match the smallest guide. Does that make no difference? Thanks again, I can use the advice. Re: rewrapping

It's okay to use a 7 top with #6 rings. I'd really give the #6's a try. They would be just a tad lighter (and would cost you a tad less). Try both set-ups and use the one that seems to feel and work best for you. ...................... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
