I posted a couple of pictures of a blank that i painted using Dupli-Color auto paints. The pictures came out a little fuzzy but i think you could see the purple and green tints. There'a also a touch of gold in it. It really looks good in the light and the colors realy come alive when the rod is looked at at different angles, especially in the sun.
It comes in a kit with a primer, color and clear coat. I sprayed a couple of coats of primer then two coats of the color. i didn't use the clear coat that came with it but after three days of curing i sprayed two coats of spar urethane on it with an airbrush. After curing for a few days the urethane cured to a clear hard finish. The color listed on the kit is purpe and green. There are three different variations of the kit and it sells for about 20.00. You'd have to see it in person because the pictures don't do it justice at all. At least if the original Outcast blanks in chameleon can't be found this is the closest that you'll get. I really like that paint. I just finished repainting a swimming plug with it. My favorite is the green to gold Re: Chameleon Blanks

If you have an airbrush you may want to try the Createx Auto Air paints as they are water based, easy cleanup, and come in shifter colors as well. About $25.00 for 4oz and that goes a long way when airbrushed. You do not have to primer this paint if you have a black (esp matte black) blank and that helps save a little weight.

Lance, This has raised my curiosity, after doing some checking around I believe this is as close as I'm going to get. Do you mind telling me were you purchased this paint ? I am also curious if the paint will be flexible enough and not crack over a period of time and extended use. Re: Chameleon Blanks

I bought the kit at Auto Zone but i have also seen it at Wal-Mart. The rod has only been used on three trips but shows no signs of the paint cracking, peeling or chipping. I don't think that there'll be anything to worry about. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
