Does anyone make multi piece spinning blanks?

In a conversation with a custom rod builder friend, his favorite spinning rod for Steelhead and even Salmon was the Gloomis 1024 4 piece IM6 blank which is no longer available. I've seen numerous 2 pieces blanks but no 3 or 4 piece ones. Does anyone know of any (other than subsituting a fly blank)? Thanks.

Look under the heading "travel blanks" when you can find them. There are plenty of 2 piece models around, but less 3 and 4 piece models. Still, a few companies do offer a few.

GUSA will make any blank into a 3 piece, but it costs more. Ralph O'Quinn did a 45 minute Demo in Charlotte, plus did a Rodmaker article on how to do this yourself a while back. Too bad I missed the DEmo, and the article. It's not hard to do though, I just haven't got around to it.

That's true - you can make your own and get good results. I would still look for a factory multi-piece in the length and power I wanted, but failing that, find a 1 or 2 piece and finish it out with your own ferrules. All is not lost.

If you buy blanks here in Sweden, it's almost impossible to find anything but 2-5 piece blanks.
They also tend to be longer. The average spinning rod, except for UL blanks, is 8-10', whereas most rods i've seen om Mudhole etc is 6-8'.

Tim,

Lamiglas offers an 8'6" 12-25 lb. 1/2 - 1 3/4 oz lure in a 3pc.
