How long should you let CP dry prior to putting on Flexcoat? Re: Time Between CP and Flexcoat?

Hi Dale....depends on the cp...but a good rule of thumb is "overnight" or 24 hrs. Patience, is difficult sometimes, but if you rush, and its not dry......you may have to re wrap. IMHO!!!!!!!!!! Re: Time Between CP and Flexcoat?

C.P. Drying time can be accelerated with a little dry heat,(light bulb or blow dryer) a fan, etc.
READ the label on your bottle first though ! Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Time Between CP and Flexcoat?

I've used Flex Coat over Flex Coat CP in as little as 2 hours on a hot day with the rod in the sun, but it makes me very nervous. Normally I like to wait overnight. Re: Time Between CP and Flexcoat?

I normally wait overnight but recently I was in a hurry. I applied Flex Coat over CP after only several hours. I ended up with tiny bubbles leaking out of the thread. I could actually see the bubbles forming (with cheater glasses) as they tried to escape the thick FC. I think this was because even though the CP seemed dry, it was not and the thread was not sealed resulting in trapped air to leak out. Luckily, I was able to get most of the bubbles out by hitting them with hot air from a hair dryer. This took a while since they continued to form as i hit them with the heat.
