Reel seat questions

I have finished a couple of rods and when I started I thought that I would just build two that I needed and that would be it. NOT! I've got the bug bad. I used struble uplocks on both projects and they ain't cheap. I'm going to build a couple more and don't want to break the bank. Pickin out the reel seat is my favorite part of the build. I do flyrods and was checking out pac bay ns102s and ul5s. On the ul5s which are uplocks, look exactly the same as the downlocks in the cats. I would choose the down lock. Are they a flush mount to the grip or do they inlett into the grip? I don't care for the seats were you have to cut out the cork to accept the hood. I much prefer the inletted grip look. I have also seen the bul5 seats. Has anyone tried these? Thanks for any input.

On a downlocking seat there would be nothing to inlet into the cork. So the barrel just sits up next to the end of the cork grip.
