I've got a cork ring to add to the cork grip to hood the reelseat. I've never went thru this before and have some questions about procedure:
1. what glue to use? 2. what is the best method to sand the hood ring to conform to the grip? 3. what is the best method to connect hood to grip if you don't have a ring press? 4. Is the sanding done before or after the grip is glued to the rodblank? Thanks, in advance for any help-gb- Re: cork rings for hooded seats

2-part epoxy or something like Titebond II or III carpenters glue.
Turning on a lathe is preferred. Lacking a lathe you can do it by hand but it will require more time and care. Make a ring press or slip heavy rubber bands fore and aft on the grip to keep the cork ring firmly in place while the glue dries. You can sand before or after you mount the grip to the blank. ............... Re: cork rings for hooded seats

thanks Tom; great site; I always get the info I need here; Now, to make a press, I think I can just use an all thread, a couple of big washers and two nuts....won't that work?-gb- Re: cork rings for hooded seats

You bet,,, it worked for me,,, then I used 2 threaded rods, 2 pieces of wood, one with a hole thru for the blank, and the other I just drilled 1/2 way thru to hold the blank, and next one hole on each side for the threaded rod. Nuts and washers and you can glue the cork rings right on the blank.
