Where did all this stuff come from?

I'm in the process of moving and just got to packing my rod room. I just wanted to offer a word of warning for those of you who have been doing this for awhile and haven't had to pack all of your accumulated rod building paraphernalia up. Something that I was unaware of was the ability of this stuff to multiply. I am certain that I have never had the need for all of these reamers and therefore couldn't have bought and made this many. And I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have kept a box full of thread spools with 4 or 5 wraps of thread left on them. I could go on but my point is this: if you have ever considered inventorying you rod building supplies and related materials, don't. You're better off not knowing how much you have accumulated over the years. And you're much better off with your spouse not knowing. It's too late for me but consider yourself warned.

Jeff,
Have you ever considered gremlins? Keep your reamers separated or they will multiply ! LOL !! Fearing death, thread spools often hide themselves! Search often and provide proper burials. Such is the lfe of a rod builder! Just accept it ! You will feel much better!! Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Where did all this stuff come from?

"The Genesis of ROD":
In the beginning, ROD was content to merely catch fish. But that was at the first. And then, one day, ROD said: “It’s time to build my own rods.†And then, one day, he did. And he saw that it was good. That was the 2nd expansion. And another day, ROD built another custom fishing rod. And he saw that it was very good. And he built another, and another. And he named all his handiwork after himself: “rodâ€. The 3rd expansion. And the day came when ROD bought even more blanks. And more components. And more supplies. And more tools. And more boxes to store things in, and shelves to put them on. The 4th expansion. Eventually, the day came when the space for all the stuff was not enough, and an entire room was needed. And so, ROD made it so, and he saw that it was good. The 5th expansion. Finally, the day came when ROD said: “It is not good that I should make all these rods, and not get paid for them. I will go pro and see how well I can do.†And this was the 6th expansion. And immediately, as the words of ROD echoed in his own ears, confessing his true passion for rod-building, ROD heard, not the sound of thunder, but the Voice of the WARDEN, shattering the tranquility, screaming: “Don’t you DARE quit your day job!†And ROD grabbed one of his rods, and hung a sign on the door: “Gone Fishingâ€. And he rested from all his labors, and from the Warden’s glare. And he thought that this was even better. And he called it his Day of Rest. The 7th expansion. And the rest of the story is HIStory, and the end of HERstory. And this is "The Legend of ROD" (the Capt. James Version), of whom it was said: “Women want him – Fish fear him.†And that’s where all the stuff came from. B) –LOL!– Cliff Hall, Gainesville, FL-USA+++ cmkmhall@ufl.edu Edited 1 time(s). It is amazing how the lost item turns up right after you purchased another one. Re: Where did all this stuff come from?

Someone on one of the fishing boards here in the West has a tag line that says, "My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my fishing gear for what she thinks I paid for it!" Re: Where did all this stuff come from?
