i am repairing a lower cork grip (about 10") that was chewed up by a dog....what i am attempting to do is to remove the remainder of the damaged cork grip and then to use cork tape........i have gotten most of the cork off but i want to get the surface pretty clean b/f i apply the cork tape.....i was looking for any suggestions as i have gotten most of the cork off but i didn't know if i should use sandpaper to remove the last remains......what is left are small pieces of cork and epoxy...thanks Re: cork repair

Josh,
I usually use my grinder with the wheel being a wire brush on it. You will want to not put to much pressure on the blank as you can cut right into the blank, If you don't have this equipment then I would use a course file and file off the remaining glue and cork, then if there is steel some smaller pieces then I would use sandpaper and after it is smooth then I would use denatured achohol to clean the blank before appling the cork tape.
