I stand corrected Tom. But I agree with not asking anyone to limit their posts. As discussed before, if you need to generate more operating capital for the site, raise the sponsor fee and as customers of the sponsors, we'll pick up the end cost.

J - The problem with what you said is...is this is EXACTLY what happens. Now tell me, who loses out? The guy who knows the answer & has responded 3 times in the past month, or teh guy who is asking teh question and doesn't get teh answer he's looking for?

That's my point.

I hear you on not wanting to spend an hour in teh archives - I'm not saying every single topic should be researched to death before posting. I'm not saying people shouldn' task repetitive questions. But when teh same question about which type of Madeira thread to use pops up 2-3 times a month - that's just silly.

Billy hit on an important point there. I know I'm guilty of just not caring enough to open someone's post to answer it because I've seen it several times VERY recently, sometimes on the same front page (too often to mention, actually). How often can I say I don't use CP on guide wraps because...

Anyhow, the point he made and I'm trying to make, is that the loser-out on this deal is the person posting the question. If they do the search when guys like Billy post "Do a Search.", they'll get a wealth of info; not just the few who respond at that time.

This is a very interesting, entertaining, and informative thread indeed! After reading every post I can honestly say
I agree with or have common thoughts with every one of them. Even the the post by Steve Parks referring to the
blahbity blah crap! Although I do have a hard time picturing anybody looking down from on high from a throne
of golden reelseats and 50,000,000 modulas rodblanks and scoffing at the newby who finds it easier to ask than
to search! I am somewhat of a student and fan of the "human nature" subject and this board is a fine place to
watch people from all walks of life and all over the world interact with each other through a common interest.

Billy, like I said, I fully understand your frustration and I do think the Seach option is not used enough. But I keep thinking back to my neighbor of almost 30 years ago who got me into this craft. I'm sure that almost everything that he told me were things that I could have found in a book somewhere. However left to that option, I doubt that I would have been building rods all these years. I'm sure I drove him nuts with questions that I could have found the answers to elsewhere. But fortunately, he kept answering. Don't get me wrong Billy. I'm not disagreeing with you. I think you have a valid point and most of us would do well to follow your "go seach" advice more often than we do. Keep reminding us. Just don't scare the new guys off.

I would also love to see more posts with the results ( good or bad) when a new idea
is tried. Learning from other's success's and falures is an other reason this site is so
awesome.
