I'm marbling a wooden insert . Having trouble getting a nice finished edge adjacent to the threaded boby. The flex coat creaps under the threaded body and fastens it solid. Since I want to make several inserts I don't want to put the hardware on right now.I think there was some talk abt teflon tape and vasaline to protect the edge. Can't find it in the search. Thanks for your help. Re: marbling a finished edge

Marble the insert BEFORE any hardware is attached. Turn it slightly smaller than needed and just tape off the inlet ends (the parts that will be inside of the hardware), slide the seat onto a dowel or blank scrap and marble away. Works great! The teflon tape will probably work but why take the chance. This way you can slide several inserts on and marble them all at once.

Read a post earlier this week where it was suggested to use plastic tape when looking for a straight edge Re: marbling a finished edge

Teflon tape will solve the problem. I've used it quite a few times. Just remove it as the finish has started to set up. Don't "pile" the epoxy up near the teflon-masked edge, though. Putter Williston, ND Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
