Italo: I'm sure that All American Guides are the only folks that carry spiral rollers. They have very concise directions for the placement of those guides, or at least the butt guide placement. All American is a sponsor here, and they are wonderful people to deal with. Perhaps they can answer your questions.

@#$%& roller guides are what you are looking for. They are expensive and difficult to wrap due to the shape of the guide foot but they are very high quality and do have very specific directions on exact guide placement.

Italo; The guides will come with instructions for mounting, however the placement of the stripper and the transition guide is critical. You need to have the reel that you will use on that rod. I found that reel width makes a big difference in how you place the first and second guide. You must locate them and test the location when the rod is under stress. When you do that put the line as far to each side of the reel as it will go to be sure it stays in the groove of the roller guide and does not rub on the guide frame. Check this on both the stripper and the transition guide. I also do this with the line coming from the lowest point (empty reel) on the reel. The rest of the guides you can locate as you would any other type of guide by letting the rod dictate the location.

Chow and good luck. Will look forward to seing you in Charlotte. E-Mail me if you need help.

Italo,

If you E-mail me a description of the rod blank that you are using, I may be able to provide you with some information which will help you determine the guide locations and angles.

At the absolute minimum, I will need the following information about the rod :

Length,

Rating of the line specified for the rod blank

Type of blank; Graphite, Glass , Composite

Rod Taper - Fast, Medium, Slow,

In reality, locating and mounting @#$%& Spiral Roller Guides is as easy as mounting conventional guides. The secret is to do it under the approximate rated load of the blank, as shown in the instructions provided with the @#$%& Guides.
