What rod blank do you suggest for planer board trolling for Musky? I have a customer that trolls now but wants a rod that will allow a musky fight instead of just derricking the fish in. The rod needs to be stiff enough to handle the planer board, but flexible enough to allow a good fight. He presently used longer fiberglas rods with 50 lb mono. Re: Musky Planer board rod

I've pulled planers for stripers with Seeker CLB 702's. I like them, they're true live bait rods with very soft and limber tips but good backbone down low. Because they have an outer wrap of graphite on the lower 1/2 or so, they have good power without being terribly large at the butt. These blanks will do quite a bit and are very suitable for a wide variety of fishing applications, if you can make do with the soft, light tip.
