Good Evening Folks,
What is the rule of thumb for the spinning butt guide size in relation to the reel spool. I'm in the process of building a salmon/steelhead rod and I'm using a Daiwa 3500 with 15 lbs. test line. Pat BTW- Andy got your shipment two days ago - great blanks. To all Andy at Lamar Reel Seats is a fantastic guy to deal with. Re: Butt Guide Size to Reel Spool Size

Frame height is as, if not more important, than ring diameter. Generally, you can start with a ring size that is roughly one-half that of the reel spool. That's a good place to start and adjust from there as needed.
The article in the online library on the New Guide Concept Primer has more information you might want to look over. .......... Re: Butt Guide Size to Reel Spool Size

Tom
When you say " reel spool " are you talking about the center that holds the line ? I always use the spool face plate. My thinking is the line comes over the plate and is at it's largest size of the pigtails. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
