Telescoping blank

I just picked up an order from Batson Ent. and have a blank that I'm afraid is going to show my ignorance. I ordered a scattering of bass blanks to build up some demos for a local bass club. One of the blanks is a telescoping blank and I'm not familar with them. There is a 24" butt section that the longer main blank slides into and comes up tight. For those of you familar with the Rainshadow bass blanks, it is the IST904. Are these sections supposed to be epoxied together or left so the rod can be collapsed down? I can't imagine the small amount that you could collapse it before hitting the first guide would be enough to be beneficial. But as I said, these are a new animal for me.
Thanks, Jeff Hunter Re: Telescoping blank

You don't epoxy the pieces together. That is a flippin' stick blank. The blank is made to telescope down to be able to fit in bass boat rod lockers. I position the stripper guide so that when the rod is fully collapsed that the stripper guide sits about two inches above the butt section.

Not only a good bass rod for flipping but a great pike rod blank. My 7.5' really chucks the 3/4 to 1oz pike lures out nicely all day. Re: Telescoping blank

Be sure the wrap the butt section to keep the longer blank from splitting the butt. Re: Telescoping blank

Howard,
I have a 1+1 on the turner as I type. Is wrapping the short butt section really needed? Since this rod is for ME :) I'd like to hear more on the splitting butt deal guys......... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
