Does anybody sell this kind of wrapping tread. I am looking for a tread that will disappear after epoxy finishing so the blank color shows through. I need something like that to wrap ferrule areas where no guides or color treads are needed. BTW it would be nice if blank manufractures would offer a tread with a color that accurately matches the color of their blank.... thanks..... Bob./ Bridgeton NJ. Re: Clear / transparent nylon tread

White silk is what you want to use. No CP on it Also a regular nylon as close too the color of the blank as you can get with no CP on it. Try them both on the butt of the blank where the handle will cover and see which one you like better. Re: Clear / transparent nylon tread

Blank manufacturers don't manufacture thread, so that might be a problem. Generally, you can match something like a grey blank by using 441 charcoal without CP, or a green blank with 5896 without CP, etc.
I've yet to find anything that will totally disappear under epoxy. Most threads, even monofiliment, takes on a silver sheen once you apply finish to it. Closest you're likely to come would be fine white silk with no CP. .......... Re: Clear / transparent nylon tread

Try YLI nylon thread. Comes in black, gunsmoke gray and clear. Not as strong as rodbuilding nylon as it is single ply. Get it at any sewing store. It will just blend into black, matt gray or colored blanks (clear). I use it for repairs from time to time. Will work in your application on ferrules, just keep the tension up as you wind.

To accomplish what you are after I use Gudebrod Charcoal no CP on "graphite" colored blanks. It doesn't totally disappear because it will be glossier than the blank, but it fades into the color of the blank sufficiently enough that it doesn't distract from the pattern of the guide wrap spacings. For other colored blanks I have had good luck to a search here for posts asking about thread colors that match certain blanks. There are almost always responses that read: "Gudebrod XXX is a close to perfect match". Re: Clear / transparent nylon tread
