Purchased an expensive blank ,dont want to give the name because it may be me instead of the blank.Its9ft ,9wt fast action . When I cast it ,it doesn't seem to dampen as quickly as I thought it would.Did static distribution, has 10 guides plus a tip top. What are some of the reasons for the slow recovery of the tip?I'M thinking it may be the caster too?Although Im not a beginner in this area. The taper of the rod, the weight of the components, etc., will all have an effect on how quickly the rod damps. Even expensive high modulus blanks can fail to damp super quickly if their overall design does not lend itself to that sort of thing. Quick reaction and recovery (damping) are usually enhanced by the use of higher modulus fibers, but by themselves they do not guarantee a fast damping blank.

Since when does expensive blanks ensure exactly what you want in a rod? I dont' mess with skinny fly rods, but I'm under the impression that companies make many expensive rods with different actions. If I'mnot mistake PArt 2, some of these actions are designed to match the way Bamboo flexes. Or, I could be way off base. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
