Blank Question

I am currently working with a Thomas & Thomas Helix (9' 4pcs 5wt) Freshwater Blank and this is the first time I have seen a blank on any rod that has a hollow center. This is a lot different then the Pac Bay, St. Croix blanks I have used before. Usually they have solid centers or a filling within.
My question is there anything that needs to be done to fill that center or do you suggest that I just leave it open. I am afraid if I leave it open that dust/materials could get into the center of the blank and damage it. Any ideas? Thanks, Andy Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/10/2005 12:56PM by Andy Barela. I'm assuming that you are referring to the male ferrule ends, as all blanks are hollow. If they didnt plug the male ends, you can just use a dab of Rod Bond, silicone sealer, epoxy, etc (most can be colored to match if you want) in the end and rup it smooth.

If you're talking about the male end of the ferrule being open, I just put a little bit of rod bond in there, then smooth it flush with the end of the ferrule. Works great. Re: Blank Question

Yep.. the male ferrule is what I am talking about... I will place some rod bond into it, with some pigment to match the rod.
Thanks for your help. I just have never had to deal with this before, since all of the other blanks I have wrapped were never like this.. Thank.. Andy Re: Blank Question

T&T rods are premium performance instruments. If a rod blank ferrule is unplugged, then I bet it is so for a reason unless you bought a blem. I'd contact them about it before you change it.

Contacted T&T about filling the male ferrule ends with epoxy. They suggested that I use Black Gasket Compound to fill the male ferrules. Just thought you all would like to know... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
