Last month, Tom Kirkman mentioned the use of a Ritz Grip as being quite comfortable for a fly rod. What is a Ritz Grip? What do they look like? Are they preformed? Thanks, John Re: Ritz Grip

The Ritz/Gordon type grip is a essentially a straight taper grip, smaller at the rear and larger towards the front. It allows you to shift your hand fore or aft to change the hand/finger muscles used during a long day's casting. A template and sizing were included in the Volume 8 #2 issue of RodMaker.
It is rare to see the Ritz offered in pre-shaped grips these days. You'd most likely have to turn your own. ............................ Re: Ritz Grip

The Ritz reminds me of the Fenwick style and these are still made. Re: Ritz Grip

The "Fenwick" is not a Ritz, but more of a true half wells, in the forward position.

Thanks to all who repiled to my question. Tom, I will look up the template in my old issues and try my hand at turning one. John Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
