EEE Ultra Shine and Birchwood Casey gunstock wax

Has any one used EEE Ultra Shine on polishing reel seats etc. It is wax based polishing compound used on pens. It really does a great job for a final sanding step.

I was wondering if the birchwood casey gunstock wax would make a good final finish without using tru oil etc first. The product directions suggest it waterproofs because of the silicon content along with a carnuba wax. I turned a sample piece of buckeye burl and the wax really gave a nice smooth finish satin gloss finish.

The wax is fine, but like any wax, it's a temporary coating. You'll have to re-apply it often.

Another good wax, and somewhat harder and longer lasting, is the HUT PPP white bar. You'll need a buffing wheel or lathe to apply it, but it's a pretty tough product.

i use the EEE wax on reel seats and handles for the final sanding step. Very easy and does a great job. I usually cover with true oil after.
